In keeping with the tradition established since the Hockey Hall of Fame's relocation to BCE Place in 1993 - the 1999 Inductees will be inducted in the Verizon Great Hall at the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday, November 22nd. (The Induction Ceremony will be broadcast live on TSN and ESPN).
As in the past, the 1999 Induction Celebration will be a gala fundraising event to benefit the Hockey Hall of Fame. The gala celebration will be expanded to the BCE Place Galleria to accommodate approximately 2,500 guests (normally the Induction Celebration is held within the Hockey Hall of Fame facility holding approx. 1,100 guests). A limited number of tickets will be sold at $299. Tickets will be sold on a priority basis to special guests of the new Inductees and to those who have supported the Induction Celebration over the years. The Hockey Hall of Fame will not compile a waiting list for ticket purchases. If there are any tickets still available after the priority sales effort, such tickets will go on sale September 20th.
The Hockey Hall of Fame is planning numerous promotional and merchandising activities surrounding the 1999 Induction Weekend/Celebration. Plans include a comprehensive temporary exhibit dedicated to the legendary career of Wayne Gretzky (the exhibit will be launched on Friday, November 19th and continue until September 4, 2000). As well, the 1st Annual Hockey Hall of Fame Game will be held at the Air Canada Centre on November 20th between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the New York Rangers (to be confirmed upon release of the 1999-2000 NHL schedule). The 1999 Inductees will make an appearance at a special pre-game ceremony.
